Hey there Guitar heads, Hank S here with another addition of Show Boatin with hank, this weeks write up is about the mantis pincers Cassette Tape release party that was on august 6th at the Vaudeville Mews. What a better way to comemerate the day that harry hedini performed his Amazing barrels of water trick then with a concert, if you couldn't already tell i am a big fan of music so i was pumped for this show cause everybody had been starting rumors that the Pince play really really old guitars, i was thinking to my self "awesome".
Normally i got to live concerts by my self cause i really like to focus on how old the bands guitars are but  i had invited my friend Gilm along cause he's really a fan of music to. Before the show we got ready for the show by drinken beers at the Royal Mile, a bar with europe beers. What do i like to do be for shows, i like to get my dunkle on.....dunkle party boom! Me and Gilm drank what seemed like 3 europe beers and then we headed over the the Vaudeville Mew to check out these old guitars.

Lager-Made those old guitars sound like the bomb.

Vaudeville Mews is a musical venue in Des Moines famous for its live music and famous bar tenders. One concert goer claimed a bar tender who works their was in Bladers with Leslie Sykes, awesome movie, but what is this Hollywood, nice try music fan, ol Hank Wasn't Born in August. Me and Gilm grabed a few bigboys and found a place to sit right next to the sound man whose name i believe was Lager or something like that, it was dark and loud at this point so it was defiantly about time to Pince, and see these old guitars.

Around 8:00the Pince took the stage, and started to play some of the oldest guitars i ever seen. I looked at the lead singer Devan's guitar and turned to Gilm and told him it was a fender, old one too! The music was great too. You can tell these guys know how to write a rockin song with titles like Shrimp Bisque and Squash Bisque. I felt like i was taken to a mysterious Nantucket rock show with the view of the oceans in the background of thos 60's esque old guitar rock. These guys totally hadthe feel of Gend Nickersons old stuff but with a new school flair. And Just when you think the Pince is about to sing a song about clam chowder, they spring a song called "The Financial Realm"  that  is about a nether region where orcs and demons fight over junkbonds and stock portfolios, i think, and those guitars...those sweet old guitars. My favorite song was called Berlin, my family ancestorie is hevily rooted in the german heritage so this one hit me really hard, im talkin ton of charcol hard. It reminded me of the first time my mom told me abouot being german when we were watching Chet Chase  visiting germany
 in the second Vactions movie, she said "Hank, thats where you come from, be proud but don't move their cause they speak German and you wont understand anyone" That was a crushing day it was the first time i knew how Supperman felt, having a love for your home but never being able to go back to it. This song brought all that back big time, not very often music can move you like that but it did and i was balling like a little German bitch.

I rushed to the bar as I listened to the song about the old country and ordered a shot, I said "I need a shot of whisky fill it all the way full". I took my shot and settled down for the last few songs. Over all great show, if i wasnt trying to pay off my hospital bills i would have bought the band a beer but hell what are you going to do, ill tell you your not going tobuy them a beer cause you have hospital bills you dick head. The Pince are made up of Members of many other bands leading them to be dubbed by some a local super group, i dont think that gives their old guitars they play justice tho. I talked With Erik Meffet who plays one of their old guitars and he told me that while his guitar is pretty old his strings are actually pretty new, which i found interesting. Always very cool to hear how these musicans modify their gear even ifit totally plummets the resale value of you old guitar to next to none, but hell they are the pros so we need to follow their wings when we want tips. Be sure to catch THe Mantis Pincers's, Deven, Erik, Jorden, Jon and Davis the next time they come to play a Conert near you. Finally my ranking for the show:plus's these guy sbrought great musicans, old guitars and great stage moves Minus's t  I discoverd they use non origional strings and feel some of thier songs cut a little deep for people who have ties to germany, Oveall  these were minor blips and i give the show 32 out of 40 Show Boats which is so far the most BOats anyone has received.
